So I painted all day, and here it is, but I'm telling you right now, it's not signed. We all know what that means, there might be room for one slight change. We'll see.

Hey,

I painted all day long today, some of it was SherwinWilliams:) Considering the ArtisansRoadTrip is next weekend, I felt compelled to paint the entry way to our house. A person can only live with ugly so long, and this was a good excuse. It has been tranformed from metallic silvery blue wallpaper to nice rich 'cavern clay' paint. It looks LOVELY.

And, the rest of the daily paint: actually I spent quite a bit of time on the latest of the library book series---almost done.

But then I went to my studio group gathering, and guess what? The model was reading too. This one is a little rough yet, but sometimes it's better to stop earlier than later? His book was called 'delta force' something, so that's what we'll call the painting. 'Reading Delta Force', 16 x 16 inches, acrylic on canvas.

A Painting A Day

Good Morning!

Our art center studio group met last night after a two week hiatus. It felt good to be back! I got fairly well along with a piece, and then this morning at five minutes until 7:00 I had the compelling desire to splodge more paint on it. I kind of like what happened, possibly too much a.m. coffee, but then we all know about too much control.

A Good Book Can Take You There

Howdy all,

Well, Valley Junction was the Cooper season opener, and if the whole summer show series goes that well, I will be one happy camper. Now, I have no choice but to be a daily painter, sheesh, and I was wondering how I was going to deal with no room in my studio. Please note I have uploaded a new pic for your viewing pleasure, lovely to look at, eh? but already sold.

"A Painting A Day"

Hello, and happy Sunday afternoon to you!

I have been looking at all the "painting a day" people's sites, and there are many. Way to go, and congratulations to you all. It's not nearly as easy as it sounds. For those unfamiliar with the phrase and it's use, it literally means an artist commits to painting a work of art each day. Yes, it's allowed to be smaller, and ok, it's not as complex as usual.

I would love to say that I'm there, I'm getting it done, BUT no, not yet. So, is there anyone out there who wants to form a "painting every 2 1/2 to 3 days" group? No, I'm not serious. I am continuing to push for the one a day. Just watch, I'll get there.

As for today, I uploaded a piece that I started at a studio group session, and finished up yesterday. Actually, you get to see three jpgs of it---one, as it looked after the studio session, two, where I played with a copy of the image to find a solution for finishing it, and three, as it is now, and if you look close, yeah, it's signed, so maybe it's done. (maybe!) Ok, time to post.

"Shades of Red"

Hello!

Happy February 17th to you! I just uploaded my first painting to my new blogspace. It's called "One Red Zinnia". This painting and one other, "Still Life Page From A Favorite Book" are headed to the "Shades Of Red" exhibit at "Arts On Grand" next Monday. "Arts On Grand" is a gallery space in Spencer, Iowa. The exhibit will be on display from February 21 thru March 24, with a gallery reception on February 22 from 5:00pm-6:30pm. If you're in the neighborhood, do stop in!
