Art Cottage Opening

Hello,

Well, the Art Cottage/Wine Bar at Okoboji is officially open for the 2007 season. Two studio friends and I showed our work selected from about 1 1/2 years of studio painting at the Lakes Art Center. We had a beautiful evening's worth of weather, a good crowd, and some good interest. The work will be up for three weeks. We'll see how many paintings we have to take back home!

A Good Book Can Take You There

Howdy all,

Well, Valley Junction was the Cooper season opener, and if the whole summer show series goes that well, I will be one happy camper. Now, I have no choice but to be a daily painter, sheesh, and I was wondering how I was going to deal with no room in my studio. Please note I have uploaded a new pic for your viewing pleasure, lovely to look at, eh? but already sold.

painting daily still

Hello,

Where have I been you ask? Nose to the grindstone I think. Lots of details getting ready for the first show of the year, especially when it's followed by another the very next weekend. Valley Junction Art Market, West Des Moines, is this Sunday, 11-5. The next weekend, two studio painter friends and I are opening a show in Arnold's Park. Yes, that would be the one right next to Okoboji, aka the Iowa Great Lakes. The actual address is 139 A. Broadway, which is The Wine Bar & Art Cottage. We will have a meet the artists opening May 25th, from 4-6pm. And of course because it is The Wine Bar, there will be wine tasting, with wines from Jasper Winery, Newton, Iowa. Our work will remain there for your viewing pleasure through June 13th.

And I have a painting from the aforementioned studio group work ready to post. Yea me.

"Primary Fluff" and "Art Sail"

Yo,

So we got rained on in Iowa last night, big time. Ollie's outdoor doggie dish was full which is the meteorologist equivalent of about 4 inches, give or take a smidgen. I was told we also had a light show, plus some electrically induced percussion, none of which managed to wake me up.

I have another show to put on my summer calendar. "Art Sail" is July 28th in Clear Lake, Iowa, a one day show in a beautiful park on the shore of an equally beautiful lake. If you are in the neighborhood, do drop by. Clear Lake also has a stunning new art center, which I wrote about earlier. Their address is www.clartcenter.com. I will suggest that their website needs to be more patron friendly, but their new gallery space is definitely worth a visit.

Today for your viewing pleasure, "a painting a day". Yep, that means I accomplished it all today! I will confess that I failed to paint yesterday (big soccer tournament road trip) but I have been faithfully making "paint daubs and splodges" all the other days of this week. I have another "book reader" done, but not photographed. I will get to that eventually. Time to upload!

Sugar Creek Art Festival

Hello and happy Wednesday to you,

I've recently added another show to my schedule for the summer. July 7th and 8th the Sugar Creek Arts Festival will be held in Normal, Illinois. There are two parts of the show, some artists will be located on the streets of uptown Normal, some, myself include, will be on the quad of the Illinois State University campus. They promised shade trees on the quad, and considering we're speaking of the first part of July, that was the line I signed on!

Painting: yes, I have been. But here's the deal, I can barely navigate the studio for the canvases, (almost finished ones) leaning everywhere. One of these days soon I will amaze you with the number of paintings I post for your viewing pleasure. Just you wait!
